A hit-squad of West’s Warriors 1st XV tackled a different kind of opposition on a dark and chilly Thursday – an 80-strong group of die-hard quiz teams – all in the name of raising much-needed funds for the Club and its women’s and girls sections. The Warriors had been invited to come along and join in by the quizmaster and hosts, the newly-kitted out Brothers in Arms pub in Walpole St Andrew, which always helps local charities and other community groups raise essential donations through their monthly quiz nights.
Team Captain, Emma-Jane Watson, gave a stirring speech on the needs of the Club and its female teams, ultimately helping those in attendance to dig deep and enable the quiz team to walk away with an incredible sum of £380, which will be put to good use in kit, equipment and other essential items that any grassroots club needs.
Undeterred by being away from the pitch, the team answered questions on a challenging range of subjects, even scoring 10/10 in a round on global currencies, (who knew??) showing the depth and diversity the team has both on and off the field. A great night was had by all, and looks set to be a regular fixture for all who took part.
West Warriors and West Norfolk Rugby Club would like to extend their sincere thanks to both the quiz group and participating teams, and the Brother in Arms pub, for their generosity and hospitality.
